Moving Postage Stamps
I know that we can download movies on to our cellphones/iPods...but who are these people who want to? Do they actually enjoy watching content on a screen the size of a Grinch's heart? Tell me, you downloading-movie-to-cellphone people, why is squinting pleasurable?
It seems to me that the only way the form could work is if it became a kind of radio show, with extremely simple images and a heavy reliance on dialogue. As a playwright, I should support any commercial move toward a reliance on dialogue. But I find the technology annoying.
Come on, am I the only one that finds those commercials featuring people in various public places staring with a vacant smile at the little device to be reminiscent of a Twilight Zone episode? I don't mean to be the old man here, but what the hell are these whippersnappers up to? And tell the smoochers to get off my property. MAH!
