Beaker says, "Meme meme meme meme"
I have been tagged by a meme, which is a nice way to get a running start at more regular blogging in the new year.

Five things that you probably don’t/couldn’t know about me.

  1. My family has a lot of military service in its background. My grandfather served in the Navy during WWII and the Korean War, my father and his brother were army translators, my mother’s brother and his wife were in the Air Force, I have a cousin who was in the Navy until recently, and another cousin who is currently in Iraq. For this reason I have mostly kept my mixed feelings about this current military adventure to myself.

  2. I have forsworn lamb chops. While I’m not convinced by the ethical arguments against meat-eating (For instance, a tiger wouldn’t think twice about eating me. I’ll show that sonuvabitch tiger! GIMMIE A STEAK!) But eating animals that were killed before they even had a chance to live to adulthood seems unnecessarily cruel. No doubt this was brought on by the birth of my second child. Anyway, I have forsworn lamb chops. Sweet, delicious lamb chops…

Maybe I’ll quit them in ’08.

  3. When I was twelve I saw The Name of the Rose on cable and it filled me with an overwhelming desire to become a monk and live a cloistered life devoted to study. I wanted a life without all those messy bodily functions, like the one that popped up every day during Algebra 2. You know, a life without violent carnal desire…like all those monks in The Name of the Rose…okay so I didn’t think it out too clearly. But I did get my grandmother to sew me a monk’s robe that I still have, one that has served as many a last-second Halloween costume.

  4. I have violent nightmares regularly. That’s why I’m not one for slasher flicks. No need to throw any coal on that fire.

  5. I must write thirty-seven and-a-half plays before I die. You figure out why.

Tags go out to Josh (because it’ll be entertaining, whether he tells the truth or not), Mac (to help him get a running start too), and Sheila (just to see if she’ll respond).

This is great! Perhaps I should just solicit topics from others from now on. And then take entirely unreasonable positions on them.

In anticipation of the first suggested topic: sir, goat milk is the devil’s semen.
